How to Use Micas for Epoxy
EPODEX metallic & mica pigments are suited for all applications with clear epoxy resin. Simple and easy to use! Instantly choose one colorant in combination with the quantity selected. Want to work with a variety of pigments and colorants? Work wet on wet by individually mixing each mica with the epoxy. Mix the mica powder with the resin or with the resin-hardener mixture.
Quantity of colorant:
1g of pigment per 2oz of epoxy.
70g (= 2.5oz) of pigment per gallon of epoxy
You can use more or less depending on the desired finish and project. Micas are heavier than the epoxy resin itself, so mix them in until the resin has become gel-like to avoid them from sinking to the bottom of the epoxy layer. Gelling times depend on the quantity and epoxy kit used.
