FAQ - Questions & Answers About Floor Coating Industrial

What is industrial flooring and what is it used for?

chevronBottom

A floor coating industrial is hard-wearing and resistant, specially developed for high mechanical and chemical stress. It is manufactured on the basis of epoxy resin or polyurethane and applied to existing substrates such as concrete or screed. Typical areas of use are production halls, storage areas, workshops and heavily frequented commercial flooring areas.

How does an epoxy resin coating differ from a PU coating?

chevronBottom

Epoxy resin coatings are frequently used for industrial flooring when high hardness, compressive strength and chemical resistance are required. PU coatings (polyurethane) are more elastic and are particularly suitable for temperature fluctuations or dynamic loads. Both systems have different advantages – the right choice depends on usage, load and the requirements for the floor.

Is industrial flooring also suitable for home use?

chevronBottom

Yes, industrial flooring systems can also be used in residential areas, particularly where a robust and durable surface is required, for example in garages, workshops or basement rooms. For living spaces and other residential areas, we offer other products [SS3.1] that provide more design options and are often preferred due to the wide choice of colours and design possibilities.

How long does industrial floor paint last?

chevronBottom

With proper installation and regular maintenance, industrial resin flooring can achieve a lifespan of 10 to 20 years or more. The key factors include the quality of the materials used, careful preparation of the substrate, and daily wear and tear. Professional application is the foundation for a durably resilient result.

Can floor coating industrial be applied to old substrates?

chevronBottom

In most cases, floor coating industrial can be applied directly to existing substrates such as concrete or screed. A thorough substrate preparation is required, including cleaning, drying and, if necessary, filling cracks. For heavily damaged surfaces, a levelling layer may be necessary before the coating is applied.

What is the difference between water-based and non-water-based epoxy resin systems for industrial flooring?

chevronBottom

Water-based epoxy resin systems are vapour-permeable and allow water vapour to escape from the substrate. Non-water-based systems, on the other hand, are vapour-tight and prevent the penetration of moisture, making them particularly suitable for sterile areas or applications with high hygiene requirements. However, in the case of rising damp or water pressure from the substrate, the cause must first be remedied before a coating system is applied, as otherwise adhesion problems or delamination may occur. The choice of the appropriate system depends on the substrate, the environmental conditions, and the technical requirements of the industrial flooring.
